#channels

#nintendofreaks - The local dive. Acts as the general meeting grounds for NFNet and serves up a mean helping of sarcasm with a dash of cynacism.
#lobby - ZREO chat home. All the ZREO folks can be found here with a few others added in for variety.
#NFNet - Official NFNet chat and help channel. Opers can be found in here when help is needed.
#wzmr - A place where WZMR and if a five ounce bird can carry a one pound coconut are discussed.
#trivia - A trivia script hosted by our very own ebuch. Entertaining way to pass time and see how much or how little you know. !trivia to start, !strivia to stop
#G7 - NFNets own version of IdleRPG (SlashNET original). /msg NFBot register <Character Name> <Password> <Class> to register and idle with the rest of us.

/commands

Syntax: /command_name <needed_paramaters> <optional_parameters>

Changing your nickname (nick): /nick <new nick>
What it does: Changes the nickname that a user is known under.
Example: /nick BobDole

Joining a channel: /join <channel name>
What it does: Joins the specified channel, if possible.
Example: /join #nintendofreaks

Messaging somebody: /msg <nickname>
What it does: Starts a conversation with the specifed nickname. Essentially, a private conversation.
Example: /msg BobDole Hello BobDole!

Quiting the server: /quit <quit message>
What it does: Quits from all servers that the client is currently connected to.
Example: /quit or /quit Clogged tube...
Note: See /disconnect for details on how to disconnect from just one server, instead of all like /quit does.

Connecting to server: /connect <server>
What it does: Connects to the specified server. Be it through an url, IP address, or network name.
Example: /connect link.nintendofreaks.com:6667 or /connect 216.239.20.167:6667

Disconnecting from only one server: /disconnect <server>
What it does: Disconnects from only one server, the server that the command was executed on or the one specified.
Example: /disconnect or /disconnect NFNet

IRC Clients

mIRC - http://mirc.com
The most popular Windows IRC client with a lot of power. Great scripting, and nice interface. An updated version of Xircon with more bells and whistles added in.
Xircon - Way Back Machine or local source (1.0B4)
An ancient Windows client with some decent features. Alternative to mIRC.
Note: Last updated in 1997. The Kano scripts are the only updates for the client since 1997.
Colloguy - http://colloquy.info
A popular client for Mac users.
XChat - http://xchat.org
A simple client that is on both Windows and most Linux distros. (GUI-based)
irssi - http://irssi.org or your local Unix/Linux repository
An excellent commandline client with a simple interface. Low maintenance, powerful scripting through Perl, and is available for both Linux and Windows.
NF's Java client - http://jirc.nintendofreaks.com or http://jirc.nintendofreaks.com/?channel=nintendofreaks
A Java-based client provided on our site. A last resort to anybody wishing to join folks when any other client is not available.
